So, now even the girliest girl can get out her hockey stick and shoot the puck. I modeled the dress after the hockey jerseys of the NY Rangers (the blue and red one) and the Philadelphia Flyers (the orange one). We are Rangers fans but because she has a love of all things orange Big Sister has decided that she likes the Flyers - so I figured if I made both girls dresses they would both be happy.
They have a lot of detail - all copied straight from the jerseys. For this one the sleeves had to be cut in five different sections so that the cuff on the arm would be the right size and spot. The skirt is cut in four strips that meet at the sides creating a V. They have a sipper in the back.
For this one the arms had to be cut in three strips - going the long way - because the middle white stripe goes all the way down. The skirt only has three stripes and they meet in the same V as the Rangers dress. The skirts on both dresses do this awesome twirly thing when the girls' spin. I love it! Super girly for my girliest of girls and still HOCKEY!!! What could be better then that?
This is a close up of the applique on both dresses. It is (obviously) a hockey stick hitting a hockey puck. They are appliqued to the front panel of the dress before the rest of it was put together.
These were so super fun to make and they are definitely my style. They combine everything about me and so they are my signature. I am so glad I decided to play along with Project Run and Play this time around. I've never done it before and it has been super, super fun. I have made lots of things I might not have otherwise made - especially the men's shirt refashion which I am THRILLED with. I am now looking forward to the next session.

Those are adorable! My tom-boy girly-girl would love one of those!
ReplyDeleteI love making things that are still girly but for the girls who don't like te traditional princesses and pink. Not that there is anything wrong with princesses and pink. I just like more options.
DeleteSeriously so fun! Project run and play is so much fun it is almost addicting.
