Some days nothing seems to go right. Some days the bread on the counter is hard from sitting out. Then the baby gets yogurt in their hair. Then the oldest is a little mouthy and gets scolded. Next the potty training toddles has to go to the bathroom and your spouse asks you to do it even though you are doing something. Oh sure they are doing something also but for goodness sake can't they see that you are doing something? You snap at them and they snap back. You both walk away irritated.
Next your spouse goes out to "run errands." You know that they are accomplishing things but still they have left you and all three kids home and it is almost lunch time. Which means you had better start making lunch. And, quite frankly, making lunch for three kids is not exactly a small task. You riffle through the refrigerator for something easy to heat up. You find a few things that take minimal work. You get them ready. You get the kids at the table to eat. You go to take the toddler to the bathroom only to find she has peed herself.
You change her. Well, you take her dress off and give her new underwear. You text your spouse to know when they will be home. After all, they have been gone more than an hour. Come on!!! When your spouse does walk in they ask annoying questions about why the toddler had an accident. They start finishing up the project they had gone out to get supplies for. You take a seat on the couch and try to rest.
But, no!!! The kids want you to read to them. You agree but end up falling asleep as you are reading. Eventually your spouse is done and you go to take the oldest out to learn to ride his bike without training wheels. The toddler wants to go too. Your spouse says they will take her but as you go to get out the bikes the toddler pees herself again - why is this happening?!?! This is the most frustrating day EVER!!!! And you are in a bad mood. And nothing seems to be making it better!!! What is going on?!?!
And that about sums up how Hubby is feeling at this very moment, I believe. Me? I am playing a classic case of avoidance and sitting here and blogging instead of dealing with him and his funk. :) Oh, okay fine!! I'll go take Big Sister to ride the bike and see if we can all make him smile. Wish us luck.

ReplyDeleteGood twist, I had no idea it was hubby. I know the funk you are talking about. Good luck, it is almost bedtime!!
ReplyDeleteI understand those feelings and I imagine Casey does to. The last week with him home since his job lost has been tough on us all.
