What's She Doing Now?

Can you figure out what this child is doing in this picture? Yep, you guessed it!! She is CRAWLING!!! It is kind of a cross between an army crawl and an inch worm but none the less she is getting all around the family room and into everything. She follows Big Sister and Big Brother around. She crawls after me when I walk past. It is amazing!! It warms my heart. Just a month ago I was fairly concerned that she was going to need physical therapy pretty soon. And that was okay. I was preparing myself. I had figured I would give it just a litle while longer until she clearly fell out of the spectrum for when kids start doing things like crawling. But here she is!! She can do it. And I am so excited for her.

Plus, along with crawling has come all the other things. She officially crawled for the first time last Saturday (not this past one the one before). By the following Wednesday she was sitting herself up. Then on Friday I found her trying to pull herself to standing. This is HUGE because she has never liked to be in the standing position. That reflex that babies are born with to plant their feet on the ground seems to have been pushed out of her by spending so much time on her back in the orphanage. So, to see her trying to stand makes me so incredibly happy. She is growing and developing and is fairly on target. Nothing could possibly make me happier. I am considring all of this amazing development her (slightly early) birthday present to me (my birthday is on Thursday).

  1. Oh YAY how wonderful for you! I love seeing those milestones. And my son walked at 15 months and crawled at around 11. My daughter crawled at 6 months and walked at 9. Every child is different. BUT if you ever have any concerns over developmental delays, have your child evaluated (for free) via early intervention just to set your mind at ease. Can you tell I've been through this once or twice? ;)
