Is It Just Me?

Most mornings Big Sister wakes up around 8 or 8:30 (yes, you can be totally jealous that I get to sleep that late most days - I would be). We get up and I take her to go potty. We trade the diaper for underwear and by the time we are done with that we go get Little Sister up. Usually Big Brother has been playing in the family room for a little while already and will jump up and down and get very excited when he sees us. We all go get Little Sister and then I get everyone some breakfast. Most days while they eat I will go get dressed, sometimes I will clean the kitchen but if I do that I wind up in pajamas most of the day. :)

After breakfast we do school work. Big Brother will bring a book and read to me and while we do that the girls will play. Then I set Big Brother up to do his writing and math work. And while he does that I will usually check my email and my facebook and my twitter accounts. I might do a little blog reading and then I go off to do the cleaning in the kitchen, or maybe a little sewing for my etsy shop. After Big Brother is done with his school work on days that we do not have anywhere to go the kids will play while I do more of these things. Eventually I will sit back down and read a book - or maybe read to the kids. I will usually have my computer open so that I can chat on twitter or on facebook with a friend (or two or three).

Soon enough it is lunch time and I will make lunch and feed the kids. Then the girls have to be put down for naps and then I usually read a chapter or two to Big Brother. And then I sit there and I read my book, read blogs, chat on twitter, chat on facebook, write a blog post and just basically hang with my computer. Big Brother will come and talk to me. We share secrets and plans during this quiet time of the day. Big Sister will wake up and I will take her to go potty and then come back to what I was doing. She sits with me. We talk (she LOVES to talk) and eventually she gets up to play. Little Sister gets up and by then Hubby is usually home so I will do my thing and talk to him and the kids. But still my computer is usually open and I find myself chatting with my friends plenty. My friends who are not surprised when it takes ten minutes (or thirty) to answer and are not insulted when I arbitrarily leave with no notice.

Hubby finds this very annoying. He finds it very frustrating. And so my Aloha Friday question for this week is do you spend your day with your computer or your phone chatting away with your internet friends? Please tell me it is not just me!!

  3. My computer's always on, too. And one eye is always on it. It's my connection to grown-ups, to the outside world, to conversations that (usually) don't turn into tantrums. I need it! =>

  8. I usually get on the computer early, while my kids are getting ready for school (they are old enough to get themselves ready). If my husband is home, I don't spend a lot of time on the computer. But, on days that he is at work, I will spend most of the morning on the computer, blogging and on twitter.

  9. I spend most of my computer time in the morning or at night, checking email or working on a project website. In between I work on other tasks or errands. I also check my facebook of and on, but I don't really keep my computer open and I hardly chat. I usually prefer to talk on the phone or see people in person.

  11. Being a military wife and friends spread all over the world, the internet is the best and only way to stay connected with everyone. Like any serious blogger/FB'r (not a twitter girl yet) it does take a level of commitment. Hey, as long as the work gets done right?

  13. My computer is in the living room and I leave twitter open....if something really funn/gross/stressful happens I just take a quick sec and tweet it and I feel so much better :)

During nap time and after they go to sleep I also do my computer time. And if they are busy playing I will take a quick sec (like now) and comment on some great blogs. It isn't just you!

  14. My computer is on all day long. I'm usually the first one up and I turn on my computer right away and let it warm up while I make my coffee. It stays on until it is time to tuck the kids in bed around 8pm. I don't do a whole lot of housework throughout the day so I blog, visit twitter and facebook, read other blogs and check my e mail while I watch the kids.

I am not very fond of the telephone. I usually call my family back home on the weekends and that is about it.

Thanks for stopping by Healthy Moms!

    Have a great weekend.

  15. My computer is always on too and like your friends, my family and friends understand when I take even an hr to answer to just leave without notice.

I think dh is cool with it and don't fuss much unless he feels ignored :)

  17. Yep, I'm on the computer quite a bit during the day. Especially during naptime. My two play together a lot so that helps.

  18. It's definitely not just you. I get up in the morning the first thing I do (other than the bathroom) is turn on my computer & let it turn on while I got get my coffee & maybe change my clothes unless I decide to sit there with my coffee & robe for a while, and then I read e-mail & then blog hop for a while. What's wrong with that? Is there something wrong with that? Do I need a doctor? NOT!!!

  19. I have had to cut way back on my computer time and unfortunately my blog has suffered. But, with homeschooling, my kids have to come first and I realized I just wasn't focusing on them enough.

I used to stay up late and blog, but now that I'm pregnant, I'm just too tired. Hopefully one day I'll get to focus more on my own endeavors.

Do it while you can, I say :)
