U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A

As you all know we are a hockey family. We have watched both the men's and women's hockey games. We mostly followed Team USA. I paid some attention to the teams some of my other Rangers were playing for but we only watched Team USA. Both teams started out really strong. The women won the first three in a row - allowing only one goal in those three games. The men also played well - not quite as dominant as the women - winning their first three as well. At that point both teams played in the semi-finals. As of tonight Team USA women won the silver (in a very disappointing loss to Canada) and the men will play tomorrow for the right to play for the gold.

It has been very fun to cheer for my country. This has been the first Olympics that I have ever really paid attention to. I remember my grandparents watching the Olympics when I was a kid but I was too young to even really know what the Olympics were. Well, no that's not really true - Big Brother is younger than I was and he gets it. But no one really told me about them so I did not really know. And then I never really cared. I kind of like gymnastics and sometimes I will watch one or two events but never enough to really be rooting on my country. This time we have watched almost every game.

And so my Aloha Friday question to you this week is - did you watch the Olympics? Which events did you watch?

As for the Olympics... We love it! I got hooked on them when I was very young. My family wasn't a big sports family, but they always watched the olympics.

  9. I must admit that I have not been into the Olympics as much as I was in the past. I have been frustrated with the coverage of events over the last several games. With that said I have watched some speed skating, figure skating and of course hockey. Still floored with how many goals Marty Brodeur let in on Team USA.

  10. I love watching the figure skating events. But the Olympics are on at the same time that I put my kids to bed at night so I've been missing them. Thank goodness for DVR's and online streaming. I'm hoping to get caught up on the figure skating this weekend. I suppose they will be over by then.

  11. My husband and I just had that conversation. When I was a young girl, the Olympics was on and the other two channels showed re-runs so you sort of got into the Olympics because it was what was on. We talked about the Olympics at school. It just seemed like a big deal. Now...there's so much distraction. We haven't watched the Olympics in years but this year we watched a large portion of the opening ceremony and we have watched a bit of the figure skating and skiing and snowboarding. It's been fun. I just wish I'd quit falling asleep and having to ask my hubby who won.

  12. I've been recording figure skating but other than that I have watched bobsledding a little. I can't believe how fast that thing goes! In the past I would leave the TV on and watch all the events but with kids I can't do that anymore!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  19. Since you made me laugh twice today I had to come and follow you...you are just too cute!

I watched Lindsey Von and Apollo Ohno (since he is from WA state like me). Those were the only two I was really interested in. My hubby watched a few more.

  21. I pretty much watched everything. Even during the day at 3-5 PM I watch what is on. And then 8-11 or whatever time it gets over sometimes midnight! I'll be sad when it's over, but staying up late every night is killing me!
