My Favorite Day Of The Year

All year long I look forward to the day after Thanksgiving. Not for the sales or the shopping. As a matter of fact I pretty much refuse to shop on Black Friday. I have a much more important thing to do that day. I must take my children into Manhattan and together we will enjoy my favorite day of the year. This year, obviously, I was not able to go to Manhattan on Black Friday and so we will be heading into Manhattan tomorrow. Tonight we drive down and tomorrow we get our very special day. And what will our day look like you ask?

We will start the day by taking a train and then the ferry and then another train into Manhattan getting out right in front of Macy's on 34th Street. We will go inside and wait in an incredibly long line to see Santa Claus. Growing up I always knew that the REAL Santa was at Macy's on 34th Street and now Big Brother and Big Sister know the same thing (Little Sister will but right now she really does not care :)). The line to get to Santa will take us through Santa's village, his toy shop and other winter wonderlands. It will be long and hot but it will be fun. Mrs. Claus will be walking around, as well as the train conductor for the Polar Express. It is so much fun!!!! Finally, we will get into the room where we can meet and talk to Santa. Big Brother will be too shy to sit on his lap, Big Sister will probably cry if we get to close to Santa but we will all sit on the bench with Santa and take a picture. Big Brother will tell Santa what he wants for Christmas - a bike. Big Sister will hopefully tell Santa what she wants but if not Big Brother will help her out and let the big guy know that she wants bubbles.

After leaving Santa we will eat lunch and then continue on our way. We will go up 5th avenue and see the windows decorated for Christmas along the way. We will go to Times Square and go to the M&M store. We will not buy anything but we will look around and it will be magical. We will continue up 5th avenue and go to Rockefeller Center and see the tree. Normally when we go it will not lit up for another week or two. This year it will be lit and the angels will be up and it will be beautiful. I think this scene with the tree and the angels and the people is one of the most beautiful Christmas pictures I have in my head. And lastly, a new addition from two years ago, we will go over to the NHL store. It is a long, busy, tiring day. But it really is my favorite day of the year. I look forward to it all year long. It is the start of the Christmas season. It is wonderful and I cannot wait.
