TheSisters Are Flipin'

Well, the time has come to prepare for travel. It is time for me to pack my bags, make reservations and head off to Ethiopia!!! I cannot believe the time is here. I cannot believe that it is actually time!!! I mean two days ago I was sure I was going to get more bad news and now I am preparing to travel. I can start getting ready and I can go. I am so happy!!! And because it is time to prepare it is also time to let you all in on a secret I have been keeping over the last few weeks. Are you ready?

I am partnering with Bum Genius to bring you a very unique review of their new Flip diapers. I have already told you all that I have every intention of using cloth diapers while we are in Ethiopia. I realize that for many people this seems eccentric. I realize that an awful lot of you will think I am going over board but I am very comfortable with this decision. It maybe because I am used to it but I really do not feel like cloth diapers are that much extra work. The guesthouse I am staying in does have laundry facilities and yes, they will allow me to wash my diapers there. See, in Ethiopia everyone uses cloth diapers so they do not bat an eye at the fact that I want to wash them there.

So, I had decided that I would my two day supply of AI2s. I figured they would be my best bet for a few reasons. One is that they are such space savers and considering how careful we have to be about packing and the fact that I will be traveling by myself with the kids I figured space was a big issue. I also figured that since all of the AI2s I own are OS I would be able to use all of them on both girls. Additionally with covers that I can use over and over again I have less laundry to do. The only down side I could see was that all of my cute prints and my Rangers diapers are pockets. So, anyway, I was all set with my supply and ready to go. Until I heard about the Flip Diapers......

Well, I thought "They are the perfect diapers for traveling!" First - they are made by Bum Genius and I love my Bum Genius. Second - they are one size. Third t- hey are an all AI2 system. Fourth - they do have a biodegradable disposable option for people who prefer that. Fifth they are brand new and I bet Bum Genius would like to generate some extra buzz. So, I contacted them and we are teaming to bring you our TheSisters Are Flipin.'

TheSisters will be diapered exclusively in the the Bum Genius Flip diaper from the time we leave our house to go to Ethiopia until we return home. Now as a disclaimer I want to be very clear - I am not buying these diapers BUT I am also not keeping them. Cottonbabies (the company who owns Bum Genius for anyone who does not know) is going to send them to me sometime in the next few weeks and after I return (and give them one last washing) I will be returning them. See, I want to bring you all this review of their new diapers and I just love the idea that I can give you a really complete review because I will be using them exclusively for a whole month. And then tehy are going back so you know that no matter what I say it is not because I feel obligated to the company to say nice things (although I warn you now I expect to like them - I already love everything of theirs I have every used).

I am so excited to be working with them and to be getting to bring this to all of you. I cannot wait till they get here - expect to see pictures of them in my suitcase when they get here. I am hoping that after my trip more of you will travel with your cloth diapers. I am also really excited to get to bring these with me because I am going to be traveling with two other new mamas and am excited for the chance for them to see me use cloth full time - even in Ethiopia. The only downside is that I promised we would only use the Flip so I will not be able to show off my 3.0 and my OS AIOs to these mamas. Do you think Bum Genius would mind if I bring them and just SHOW them? As long as I do not use them?

  1. WOOHOO for working with BumGenius but how strange you have to return them! When a company makes you return something they pay you to review it....& I totally think you should take your others & show them how they work! Or you can show them the ones I'm DONATING cause I'm nice like that & they get to KEEP them....

  2. Hey I think that it makes sense, if you are a cloth diapering mommy that is what you are, traveling should change that.
    Have fun traveling.
    Happy VGNO

  4. Oh, that is WONDERFUL!!! I can imagine the disposable inserts will be a big help on the plane ride there & back. I can't wait to read all about this cloth diapering adventure. I am sure you will be an inspiration to the Mom's you are traveling with. I think taking the other Bum Genius diapers along to show them would be a fine idea.

It does seem a little odd that you are going to give the diapers back when you come home.

  11. that is great! I wonder if BumGenius will let you just leave them with the orphanage instead of having to bring them back and return them? I'm sure it could be a tax write-off for them and a great asset to the orphanage...maybe?
