Underneath The Same Big Sky

Two years! That is how long it has been since we started the process to bring Little Sister home. Obviously, we knew nothing about her at the time. We did not know if she would be a boy or a girl, we had no idea that the process would take this long, at the time we even thought she would be born in Vietnam. We knew NOTHING!! And truthfully it has been a difficult journey. There have been so many times throughout the process where we (Hubby and I) have been frustrated or sad or even felt like we were not getting anywhere. The current wait is driving us nuts.

However, there are a few things that I hold onto even in my darkest hours. And the biggest one comes from a silly movie I saw as a kid - An American Tail.

Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight

Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

I sing a song to each of my children whenever I put them to bed. I sing Winnie The Pooh to Big Brother, I sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow to Big Sister and this (Somewhere Out There) is what I will sing to Little Sister. Nothing could describe my feelings and my prayers any better. So, there you have it - the "lullaby" I am giving to my daughter.

As this is my Baby Shower post I am excited to read what you all have to say about parenting, children, multiple children and the like. Tell me your stories, or your favorite books or kids songs to sing. We are always on the look out for those. Link back to us so other people can find all the fun baby shower posts. And do not forget to RSVP and come on out (err.. in) to the baby shower on twitter tonight.

  1. This is really a sweet post. You are a very loving mother and I admire you for that. It is a good thing that you are valuing moments when they are younger like singing to them and dedicating a song to them because they would always remember those simple things when they get older.I'm sure because I remember the songs my mom and I used to sing together. Keep it up. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. I linked up my post. I hope it isn't too corny for words, I got kinda teary eyed writing it. Yes, I'm a hormonal nerd.
