We're Not So Good At This

So, I posted this on Wednesday night. I had decided that I wanted to try a back carry. I figured it would make things easier when I am washing dishes or vacuuming. Unfortunately, as you can see, our first attempt did not go so well.

Fortunately, Wednesday night is the babywearing chat on twitter and I was sent a link to a great tutorial on a different way to do a back carry with the wrap. So, we gave it a try and it worked a lot better.

All in all I like this version of a back carry better than the one I was trying. But I don't know that I love it. The one I love is the front carry in my wrap. It is so comfy - for her and me. I just love how well she sleeps like this and I really can do most housework with her on my front.

And since this is supposed to be a stash post I will include a picture of my only other carrier. It is a pouch sling and while I do not love it like I love my wrap I do find it very useful for going in and out of stores or the mall. Anytime I need her to go in and out quickly (like when I took the kids to Wendy's yesterday). It sure can be super useful!

The picture is not so great but it is all I have since I never use this around the house. I only use it when we are out. So, I had Hubby take a picture of us tonight and this is the best we got. :)
I had forgotten about this one when I wrote this post earlier because we never use this anymore (although if Hubby needs to wear her he might use it). Personally I don't think I will ever use it again but then again, I will not get rid of it. Hmmm.... I guess it is a little sentimental since it is the only one I used with Big Brother.

So, there you have it - my babywearing "stash." I would not necessarily call it a stash but I wanted to play along with Steph - head on over and see her stash. I am betting it is amazing!!!

  8. It took a while for me to master the back carry, but it really comes in handy now. Maybe because I don't have much success in doing hardly anything with my baby on my front. It looks like you're well on your way!

  9. Looks like the second try came out better :)

If I could afford it, I'd have carriers in every print! LOL... Right now I have 2 pouch slings, one ring sling, and soon to be 4 wraps (once I make them)

  10. Cool!I don't know if I will be brave enough to try the back carry when the time comes. The pouch sling does look like it would be useful to run into the store etc. Great post!

  12. I'm just jealous that this wasn't around when I had my kids. The Baby Bjorn and all lookalikes was the hottest thing around back then. This looks so much more secure. Happy VGNO

  15. I love your little ones face in the first picture. It looks like she'sthinking of jumping though. I always liked the front carriers to I could watch them. I think whatever is comfortable for both you and baby is the way to go.

  16. I'm a Baby Bjorn lady, my daughter loved it, even still went in it a few times at 2 1/2, she was pretty small. My little guy had horrible gas and I carried him in it everywhere. Particularly love their fleece cover for cold weather, we walked to school & back everyday to get sis after he was born Jan 31. He hated his carseat & stroller so the BB was easier for both of us!

    Stopping by from VGNO!

  25. Thanks for the welcome! I was never good at using those. I felt like the baby was swinging around freely. Although they're probably made much better now.

  26. My kids aren't sling-able anymore and still I can't bare to get rid of my 3/4 carriers. I have a Knapsack, and a ring sling and somewhere buried is an old Fisher Price front carrier. That thing wasn't fabulous but it got us to the mail box in the fall of 1999!

  28. I can't seem to make my wrap work for us. Slings are a bust too.. the only fool-proof carrier is our Snuggli, he loves it... but on the rare occasion that the Sleepy Wrap comes through, I LOVE it. I don't know if I'll ever attempt a back carry though...

(Btw, Google Analytics tells me your site sent me 6 new visitors today! Yay! Thank you =] )

  34. It looks like you're getting the hang of the back carry just fine to me - one question - HOW do you get her on your back to begin with??? I am a little bit larger woman, and I don't know if that's why, but I have a SUPER hard time getting my son on my back & then wrapping. I can do it with a doll just fine, but he just isn't that cooperative. :)

  35. Thanks for stopping by. She looks so comfy all wrapped up and resting in the front carry.

i dont' know how i feel about structured carriers. they're kidna awkward for me to use, but there is a certain amt of secure to them.
