Hockey

Well, the end of the hockey season is here. It's all over. Hard to believe. We've been watching games on tv and heading out to games all over New York. The biggest hockey fan in our family, without a doubt, is Big Brother. In fact, we weren't a hockey family at all before we happened upon a game and he loved it. So, to sum up a little bit about the Stanley Cup finals, here is Big Brother, in his own words:
The Penguins won the [Stanley] Cup. It was a good game. There was one minute left in the game. The Penguins goalie made an awesome save. It was a good one.
After we spoke about the final game, I asked Big Brother some questions about hockey in general:

Hubby: What is your favorite part of hockey?
Big Brother: I don't have a favorite part. It's the whole game.
H: Do you like watching games on tv or going to game better?
BB: Both. They are both different.
H: If someone was thinking about watching hockey, which do you think they should do first, watch a game on tv or go to a game?
BB: They should go to a game first. It's good.

After he answered me, he had some questions of his own that he wanted to ask:

Big Brother: Fleury fast?
H: Yes.
BB: Crosby fast?
H:Yep.
BB: Lundqvist fast?
H: Yes.
BB: Rangers fast?
H: Yes.
BB: Crunch fast?
H: Yes.
BB: Would you want to see the Crunch win the Calder Cup at home or on tv?
Hubby: At home.
BB: Would you want to see the Rangers win the Stanley Cup at home or on tv?
Hubby: At home.

And there you have it. Hockey from Big Brother's perspective. He is quick to remind all of us that there are only 3 more months until hockey starts again. When it does, we highly recommend that your family considers being a hockey family, too.

  5. Hockey has always been my Dad and my number one sport. Of course I don't get to watch it anymore, with one channel, but Dad pretty much dies without Center Ice! He's disabled now, but used to play, otherwise he'd be out playing more than watching.

  6. We just started getting into it this season. And since the Penguins are a local team (we're from PA), we decided to root for them. I love that Hockey games don't last forever like other sports, so you can enjoy the game, but still get to bed at a decent hour. lol.

  11. Hockey is my dad's favorite sport too. We used to watch the Vancouver Canucks every Sat. night with him. I guess I never really got into it though and don't watch it anymore. It makes for good family memories though.

  16. Oh, I miss hockey! I used to go watch our local team play when I was in high school, but I now I don't have anyone to go with me, even if our city had a team! I definitely prefer going to the game. It sounds like you have a smart Big Brother there. I hope you find fun ways to fill the days between now and next season!

  17. My son saw your header and reminded me of how much he "loved" hockey. He's dissapointed that he can't watch it on TV right now. I'm from a small town in Canada that loves hockey! Here in a small town NC it's not that popular. (Well it was for about 2 weeks when The Hurricanes won the cup. ugh.) So I am glad that it's something that my son enjoys.
    Anyways... So cute!

  18. That's so cute! My husband is from Canada, so we definitely have some hockey love in our family, even if we live down South. We actually took our 1-year-old daughter to a pee-wee hockey game in Ontario recently, because her cousin was playing. Figured we should expose her early. She wasn't even too scared by the crazy hockey moms!

  35. Personally, I think people should watch a game on TV first - that way you can answer their questions. I went to a Sharks vs Sens game for my 16th birthday (a long time ago) in San Jose and it was so quiet, a pen could drop.

We had great seats, right next to the announcers and if it had been the first time watching, I think they would have gotten annoyed real fast trying to talk over me!
