So, recently the wonderful people at Charlie's Soap sent me their powder laundry detergent, liquid laundry detergent and all purpose cleaner for review. Now the first thing I need to do is make a confession - I did not really think much of the fact that they said I should run a pre-load before using their product. I really did not think it would make much of a difference. But I figured it was their product and they wanted my review so I was going to do what they asked.
The instructions say to run a large load with two scoops (twice the normal amount) and a few rags or something. This is essentially to clean the old detergent out of your washer. Well, I have to say that my rags have never looked so nice. I used the old dish towels that have not been nice looking in months. And ya know what? They look amazing!! I was shocked.
I was really thrilled to give Charlie's Soap a try because it is on the list of detergents that is recommended by diapering experts for cloth diaper washing. So, I threw my diapers in. Truthfully, that was a leap for me because I have a routine, a detergent I like and I hate to make changes to something I already like. But I am so glad that I did. This stuff was amazing and it cleaned stuff that I normally have to sun out. I only had one diaper that had to go out in the sun. One!! As opposed to the normal two or three. I am ecstatic!!!
Lastly, I ran a load of clothes. As soon as Hubby put on one of the shirts I had washed he said he knew that it had been washed in the new detergent. He told me that "it looks brighter and it even feels cleaner." Well, that clinched it. We have a new laundry detergent in this house.
If you want to give Charlie's Soap a try you can buy it in many places. First and foremost you can get it straight from the Charlie's Soap website. Plus you can get at most cloth diaper stores. I know the store I buy my diaper at (Kelly's Closet) sells it and I have seen it one the website's of many other diaper shops. If you are looking for someplace local you can always check out the retail locations page on the Charlie's Soap website.
Bonus for you guys is that Charlie's Soap is willing to give one of my readers a Laundry Powder Combo. It contains all three products that I sampled. And I promise you are going to love it!! In order to enter leave me a comment telling me what detergent you normally use. And if you use cloth diapers do you have a different detergent for them?

How nice to find a great new product!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog today. To answer your question about the plus signs next to the soldiers names......they are there to indicate if a soldier is missing.
We use Allens Naturally over here (I wash everything in it) I LOVE that a lil bit goes a LONG way (still have about 1/2 my bag that I have been using for a year!) BUT with that being said im like you still having to sun out 3-4 diaps! Maybe I should give charlies a try :D

ReplyDeleteI use Charlie's Soap. Have for about a year now. I absolutely love it! It's amazing. I bought it because I was going to cloth diaper my son and once I prepped the washer and diapers before he was born I was hooked and started using Charlie's for all of our washing needs!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE charlies all purpose cleaner! It is da BOMB

ReplyDeleteFollowing you.
ReplyDeletei usually use All Free and Clear for our clothes and Jenny's Simply Clean for the dipes. I've really been wanting to try Charlie's for a while, though...
ReplyDeleteI'm actually using Charlie's exclusively right now, but I thought I'd pipe up! I order directly from their website and they have wonderful customer service! I used to use Tide Free & Clear, but I wash cloth diapers and was reading that even the F&C detergents aren't always that great for dipes. I switched to Charlie's for diapers and it didn't make any sense to use multiple detergents (build-up in the washer), so we use it for everything and I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI also follow you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, I use Gain, but I am looking into making my own. Sounds like a great product!
ReplyDeleteI use Country Save - after much research because I was having problems with my CD's. I have a HE washer and hard water - both difficult issues to deal with when using CD's. Country Save has been great to work with and there prices are hard to beat when you think of per load cost. It's worked great for us, but I've always been interested in Charlie's Soap too.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you on twitter...

ReplyDeletei make my own detergent.
1 grated fels naptha bar soap
1/2 cup washing soda
1/2 cup borax
but i have wanted to try charlie's.
I usually use whatever is cheapest. Usually it is the Costco brand. I use it for regular laundry as well as my dipes.

ReplyDeleteWE use All free and clear because of my daughter's eczema! I use Tide Original to wash my son's cloth diapers. I've heard lots of good stuff about Charlie's Soap, but haven't tried it. I'd love to give it a try!

Well, I had been using the store brand free and clear stuff, but I started using Charlie's for my diapers. Now that we just got a HE washer I am using it for everything (for the past 2 days anyway).
