So, this week's Small Talk Six topic is 6 things other people do that make you personally uncomfortable.
This one is pretty interesting and honestly, took a little bit of thinking on my part to come up with some good answers. But here goes:
1. Mumbling - It drives me absolutely bonkers when people mumble. I think it comes from the fact that my dad mumbles all the time but hates to repeat himself. So, if I have to ask someone to repeat themselves I get all nervous. I would rather just nod my head and say nothing if I did not hear the first time.
2. Swearing - This is a big one for me. People swearing make me very uncomfortable. Especially if my kids are around. But even if they are not it still makes me shift in my seat or look away. I just know there is a way to express yourself without using those words.
3. Smoking - I hate the smell of smoke. I hate the way I start coughing anytime I am around someone who is smoking. And, honestly I just feel like I should not have to breath in someone else's second hand smoke. I mean it is not good for me (or them) or my family and since we are not the ones smoking why should I have to breath it in.
4. People who touch (or manhandle in anyway) my kids. I will leave the explanation of that one up to Hubby. Go ahead and read what he has to say on the matter.
5. Confrontation - In any form. Probably why the mumbling gets to me. I get all nervous and my stomach knots up and I just hate it. I hate having to defend my position or be on the defensive for something I did (or didn't do).
6. Somebody calling me out on being loud. Okay I know that sounds silly but I am LOUD!!!! I come from a big family (my mom is one of eight so when we are all in one room it is a very crowded room) and we are all loud. I am so uncomfortable with it and when someone points out to me that I am loud I tend to shut down. My train of thought is gone and I just want to run and hide.

12 Thoughtful Thoughts so far. What do you think?
lol I LOVE IT!& could have wrote all of it myself except for the loud part, im so not loud! Yesterday our new neighbors boys were over & the kid started hitting (fists!)his lil brother saying get your F'ing @$$ home! I was like WHAT? I told my boys to come inside that we were leaving (again on the confontation I could no should have told the lil boy that we dont talk like that but was uncomfortable) & ppl LOVE to touch my boys heads (fros) its like they must feel whether its soft or nappy or what...excuse me could you please not touch my kids head for all I know you could have just gone #2 & not washed your hands!
I completely understand the mumbling! I always feel awful asking them to repeat themselves. I usually just smile and nod.
I love the Small Talk Six meme. I have not seen that one before. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you do not mind, I tagged you on my blog.
oh i should have put confrontation, I hate having to do it . I just dont have the personalitiy to do.
ugh I totally agree, I hate having to take my children past the smokers at the entrance to restaurants and stores, that's just rude people! lol and I know what you mean about being told you're loud, it happens to me and I shut down too and just don't want to talk anymore. I think I'm going to have to do my own list!
Smoking has really become more unacceptable. I can't believe how many people do it near babies and small kids.
I agree 100% with touching my kids. If you're not family, then it's not right just to grab other people's kids.
#4 -- I hate that! TFS
Totally agree with all of these, except being loud, only because I am a quiet person!
I totally dislike people swearing. Especially the F word.
LOL! I mumble when I don't pay attention to my enunciation. I think it's because I think faster than the words can come out of my mouth.
Ugh, my husband is a mumbler who hates to repeat himself. So annoying, LOL!
