Aloha Friday - Camera

Well, it is Aloha Friday time! This will be my first so for any of you who do not know what Aloha Friday is...

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that people take it easy and look forward to the weekend (sound familiar?). So, we take it easy on Friday blog posts by sticking to just one quick question that surfers-by can answer with just a quick response themselves. This week's question is:

What camera do you have? And do you recommend it?

Me: I have a Canon Power Shot A560 and I really do not like it. There is an awful delay and I miss pictures all the time. It eats batteries in a really ridiculous manner. Not only that pictures are blurry if I do not use the flash - as in Big Brother's v-tech camera takes pictures that are less blurry. Worst of all no matter how beautiful the picture is to start with it comes out very flat looking. So, we desperately want a new one. Now, we are not photographers and we are not going to spend $2000 on a camera and but we are willing to spend money on a new camera . We also do not want something that is ridiculously huge and bulky to walk around with (remember we are traveling with a four year old and a baby and soon another baby) We really want one that people seem to like. So, I'd love to know your experiences good and bad with whatever camera you have. Thanks!!!

  1. I had a powershot too - it was great until I realized I could do better. Now I have a Canon Rebel. I got it in January I think. Love it - barely any delay and it takes GREAT pics!!

  4. I believe that is the same camera that I HAD (actually I had the 570). It didn't even last a year. The issues you are having are not batteries. There is something wrong with the design of the camera that causes it not to sync up properly with batteries after a point. When we contacted Cannon to help they were going to charge an arm and a leg.

Hubby has a Panasonic DMC-FZ7 and we love it. Not overly bulky, takes phenomenal photos and you can add things to it if you wish to take more advanced photographs.

One of these days I will replace my handy dandy camera, but I am too upset with how it did not last (did an Aloha Friday about this a little while ago http://www.theangelforever.com/?p=815)

  9. I have a Canon Powershot A720 and it's been a great camera for being point and shoot. No delay and pretty good pixels.

  10. I have a Fuji A850 and I don't really care for it (maybe I just haven't learned to use it well enough yet). I LOVED my Fuji FinePix 2650; unfortunely it's a very primitive digital camera. lol

  13. I have the Fujifilm Fuji FinePix S800 SLR-Style 8MP 10X. I've had it for a year now, and still haven't learned all the features. I use the auto mode, just b/c I'm a little intimidated by all the features. I should just sit down and read the manual. But I would recommend it.

  15. I got a cannon rebel about a year ago when my son was 9-10 months old and I am SOOO glad we spent the money on it. I did a lot of research for about 2 months but it is fantastic and I dont even have to go and pay for professional pics anymore! I got some white material that they make those white out blinds with and use it as a backdrop....those pics come out better than in the studio.

  16. We have a Casio Exilim, and we really like it. It does not have that frustrating delay like our previous camera did. It is very small, but has the display screen on the back as well as the regular place to look through (don't even know what you call that, but it comes in handy if it is super sunny outside). Also, it doesn't "eat batteries" like our old one, instead it recharges on a dock. The main drawback is that to download the photos you have to use the dock. Overall though, we are very happy with it.

  24. I have a Kodak Easy Shot, but OMG I want the canon Rebel like nobody's business. The Kodak is a good point and shoot with good quality pictures, but I would like to move up a notch or 10 with that canon rebel.

  25. I have a Kodak M1063 I think. I can't find on the camera what exactly it is. It's a point and shoot and takes pretty good photos. For the price it's a good camera.
I'd like to get a Canon EOS.

  26. Hi! I also just recently upgraded to a Canon Rebel XS from My Canon Powershot. I LOVE, love, love, the Rebel. I'm still learning, but the pictures come out amazing, no.matter.what. It's not tiny, but I'm so happy with the quality.

  27. I think a sony cybershot is a perfect portable camera : ). It will take great pictures and it is easy to tuck in diaper bags. Good luck on your search.
