Loving Literacy

Here I go again - breaking the rules. I know that Things I Love Thursday is supposed to be for actual things but I wanted to combine my love of books and reading with my love of Jen at If You're Happy and You Know It's Literacy Thursday. So, today I am combing the two. Jen's meme is relatively new and small but I love it. I love learning what books other people enjoy. It is a great way to learn about books I have not seen before - and sometimes to remember books I do know but have forgotten about. So, go on over and fall in love with Literacy Thursday (here is the link to last week's in case you are here before she puts up this week's).

So, on to Literacy Thursday. It was Big Brother's turn to pick a book this week. He has been reading The Complete Tales of Winnie-the-Pooh lately and so that is what he choose. Now if you have not read the original you really should. It is absolutely adorable!! Way better than any of the other versions, including the movie - which, by the way I love.

We usually read a chapter at a time, but not necessarily in order. We read each chapter as if it were it's own book. We started that when Big Brother was too little for chapter books and even though he can read chapter books now he still likes to read it that way. And it is fun. A good read.

One of my very kind readers informed me that 5minutesforbooks has a monthly Kids Pick post and so I am linking up to that as well. And for anyone coming to me from there you can go here or here to see the other books my kids have picked this month. :)

  1. We do not have Winnie the Pooh. I know I had them as a child. My oldest is on a Berenstein Bears kick- which I love, because they were some of my favorites. And I'm going to have to check out that site- love to find new books that others enjoy!

  2. I love book recommendations, too. Especially for children's books because they can be so hit and miss. This is a good meme.

You should link this at 5minutesforbooks.com too. They did a Kid's Pick link up yesterday.

  3. I am liking your Things I Love Thursday post. I have my original Winnie The Pooh storybook from when I was younger and I love it. It was one of my favorite books and I preferred to the movies as well. This post has brought back so many memories. I think I am going to have to check out a few of those other memes as well.

This was a really great post.

  4. We have this book too, but it has gotten buried. I need to dig it out again. My kids love Pooh.
