6 Most Romantic or Unromantic Things That Ever Happened To You
This week in honor of Valentine's Day we are supposed to write about the most romantic or unromantic things that ever happened to us. Since I essentially only dated two guys in my life coming up with six in either category was really dificult so I am breaking them down into three romantic and three unromantic.
Number 3 in both categories
Romantic - A guy that I was friends with but who liked me bought me a teddy bear for Christmas. It was sweet and romantic. The thing that made it really romantic was that I had moved away a few months earlier and he had still sent it to me. This friend deserves his own post but I won't go into it now.
Unromantic - Hubby and I were married for five years this past August. Our anniversary is two days after Baby Sister was born. So, we were not really in a very romantic mood. However, the thing that puts it on the list is that our anniversary was the day all of our family arrived to meet the new baby. So, we spent our anniversary with my parents, my in-laws and a few other relatives. REAL romantic. :)
Number 2 in both categories
Romantic - There was a guy in high school that I had such a crush on. I mean major crush. We were friends and one night he drove me home from a drama banquet (yup, we were drama people). When we got to my house he claimed he had to get something out of his trunk and walked around to the back of the car. We kinda bumped into each other back there. We hugged (we always did this - we were drama people and this was high school - very touchy feely combintation) and then he put his hand under my chin and lifted my face to his. He kissed me. At the time this seemed like the most romantic thing that could possibly happen to me.
Unromantic - This guy, the romantic kiss guy from above, we dated for a little over a year. We broke up a fe times but we always got back together. Then I moved from my dad's (in Florida) to my mom's (in NY). So, Kiss Guy (I like that I think I will call him that from now on :)) and I broke up. We kept in touch for the first few months but we were not together. Then all of a sudden one day I got a really hurtful letter in the mail from Kiss Guy. It said he did not care for me and that I should never call him again. My heart was broken. I cried my eyes out. Hubby got to be there for me while I cried and cried. Now he says that the more Kiss Guy said "do not call me" in his letter the more Hubby knew the guy wanted me to call. However, Hubby already had a thing for me and so he encouraged me NOT to call. Eventually Kiss Guy apologized (over and over and over again).
Number 1 in both categories
Romantic - Absolutely the most romantic thing that has ever happened to me is the night Hubby proposed. He had been working with my best friend (AuntJ) who worked in a jewelry store at the time ti make my engagement ring - they had been keeping it a secret from me. We had gone to a local hotel and gotten a room. We were attending the party the hotel was having. It was fun. Hubby suggested we go to our room to watch the ball drop. Directly after the ball dropped Hubby got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
Unromantic - Is the way Hubby and I started dating. So, I told you earlier this week about the way our relationship was going on but unofficial. I had sort of pushed him to decide if he wanted to be with me or not. But I didn't really care if we were officially dating I just wanted to KNOW that he wanted to be in this thing we had going. That he wasn't gong to start dating someone else. Then a few days later he turned to me one day and said, "So, I was talking to someone today and I called you my girlfriend. Is that okay?" I said yes and yes and he said, "So, does that make it official? Are you my girlfriend?"And that was it we were dating? Super romantic huh? Come to think of it I wonder who coached him through the proposal? :)
