Valentine's Week
This is a picture of Hubby and me from high school. We weren't dating then. Although, there was some major flirting going on. :) We liked each other but due to a whole slew of reasons we really did not date that year (we were seniors when we met). But we were friends, we hung around with the same people and so even when we took off for college we stayed in touch. We talked on and off through our freshmen year. Sometime we talked a lot and sometimes we didn't talk for weeks or more.
Then the summer came and we spent a few days hanging out and realized how much we cared for each other. Unfortunately, that was the only few days we had before we had to go back to school. So, we both left for school and kept in touch. He was up here in Upstate NY and I was in Florida at the time. We tried writing and only calling occasionally. Soon writing every few days and calling occasionally became phone calls every night. This went on from August until October but we were still not dating.
Not until I had had enough. I told Hubby (who was obviously not my husband then) that I was asked out by someone else. He got kind of upset and told me that he wanted us to be together. I had pretty much known that he would so I left it at that. That was really the point. I mean there was a guy, but I did not really want to date him. I wanted to be with Hubby. So, I kind of took the affirmation of his feelings and left it at that. Then two or three days later he officially asked me out - in the most unromantic way possible. But I was so in love with him I didn't care I said yes immediately.
That was ten and a half years ago. We have been together ever since. We went through two years of long distance before I followed him and moved Upstate. We ran up ridiculous phone bills. We talked A LOT. We still do. We still have nights that we stay up WAY too late because we are talking. I do not have the bills anymore so I do not know how expensive they were anymore. But I do remember that when the bill came in I would call the phone company and pay by phone because the person who answered would always discount the phone bill by $100 because they were so expensive.
We saw it through and were married in 2003. We have a good life and we love each other very much. We always have. I don't doubt that we always will. We have a great family. And it all started with this picture. This picture was the beginning of our journey. I think we were already a little in love then. Just look at us. We look very content with one another don't we? What do you think? Do we look in love to you?
